Life is no brief candle to me; it is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations.

The Last Olympian
The last book in the Percy Jackson series came out on Tuesday. I finished it last night and enjoyed Percy's adventure. There was a lot of action in The Last Olympian. I will hold any other opinions until my students have read the book! :) I have two copies. If any of my students would like to borrow a copy, let me know. As soon as my boys finish the books, I will be glad to share them.

Hippity hoppity!
Easter's on its way!!! We participated in an activity today using plastic eggs and everyday objects. It is an AIMS activity called "Eggs Full of Sound". In one class, three children listened carefully enough that they were right 10 out of 12 times! Way to go! :)

Oobleck
Earlier this year, we made oobleck from cornstarch, water, and food coloring. It made a mess, but the students thoroughly enjoyed the process!! We read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss. Then, the students wrote about making the oobleck in class.
