Oobleck
Earlier this year, we made oobleck from cornstarch, water, and food coloring. It made a mess, but the students thoroughly enjoyed the process!! We read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss. Then, the students wrote about making the oobleck in class.

Pyramids
My Reading class is working on pyramids for the books they are reading. The students are painting and decorating each of the four panels for the pyramids. On notecards, the students are writing a paragraph to go along with each panel. They are coming along great. I am anxiously awaiting the final product!

Lightning Thief
Several students have read The Lightning Thief series this year by Rick Riordan. I thoroughly enjoyed them myself! As the students were completing research on their author biographies, we found out that a movie was in the making for the first book in the series! We can't wait!
Getting Started
I am just getting started with this blog for Southampton Academy. As I was pondering possiblities for the site, my recollections for the school year almost overwhelmed me. It is hard to believe this is the last quarter for the 2008/2009 school year!
